SUPPORT THE JVS SCHOLARSHIP FUND

The JVS Scholarship Fund is an investment on the part of the Jewish community in the future of our Jewish youth.

Through the granting of scholarships, the JVS Scholarship Fund strengthens the Jewish Community by supporting financially needy Jewish students from Los Angeles in their pursuit of college, graduate, and vocational education.

Throughout history, education has been a core value for the Jewish people.  At Jewish Vocational Service, we recognize that education is also a critical component in our mission to enable career development, dignity and independence.  Today’s spiraling costs of higher education have made attainment of academic goals a challenge.

This fund has been established by generous donors, including individuals, families, and organizations from our community.

We need your help today. Please send the most generous gift you can afford to create a future of success for Jewish students in need. Your gift does make a difference!

Donate by Mail

Please use the address below for all donations.  Checks should be payable to Jewish Vocational Service, with an indication that the funds are earmarked for Scholarship.  You may mail your donations to:

GIVING OPTIONS

Scholarship Annual Fund

Your donation to the JVS Scholarship Program’s Annual Fund enables JVS to distribute annual scholarships, as well as to create and run programs for our recipients that give them an even greater chance for future success. In addition to providing direct scholarship awards, general donations are needed and applied to our Mentor program, Alumni Relations program, and operating expenses.

Sponsorship Programs

The JVS Scholarship Fund’s two sponsorship programs offer students and donors the chance to connect on a personal basis.  Sponsors provide the financial support needed for students to receive scholarships, while students know that someone cares about them and is willing to invest in their future.

In making such a gift, Sponsors have the opportunity to get to know the students they are sponsoring, allowing a personal contribution and connection to be made. Sponsors will receive personal letters and updates from their student, along with an invitation to attend our annual Scholarship Awards Reception.

'Adopt A Student' Sponsorship

Individuals and corporations who donate $1,800 or more per year to the Scholarship Annual Fund are matched with a JVS Scholarship recipient, creating a one-year scholarship that may be named in the sponsor's honor, or in honor or memory of a loved one.  A portion of this gift helps to underwrite the student’s participation in our Scholarship program.

'Award A Diploma' Sponsorship

The Award A Diploma sponsorship program is an extension of the Adopt A Student program.  Individuals and corporations who donate at least $7,200 ($1,800 or more per year for four consecutive years) to the Scholarship Annual Fund are matched with one JVS Scholarship recipient for four years, from freshman year through graduation.  The Award a Diploma program offers an unparalleled opportunity for sponsors and students to develop a meaningful relationship over time.

Tributes (Honorary or Memorial Gifts)

A gift to the JVS Scholarship Fund is a meaningful way to remember a loved one, or to honor a relative, friend or associate on a special occasion. Tributes may be designated for the Scholarship Annual Fund, or for the Scholarship Endowment Fund.

Circle Of Honor Endowment Fund

The funds invested by Circle of Honor donors play an essential role in supporting the JVS Scholarship Program both now and in the years to come. The Circle of Honor Endowment Fund is long-term investment mechanism enabling JVS to use a percentage of the total earned interest to create scholarship awards now, while reinvesting the remainder of the funds to create scholarship awards in the future.

Individuals and corporations who join the Circle of Honor starting at the $25,000 level or above create a permanent scholarship fund that may be named in the donor’s honor or in honor or memory of a loved one.  Circle of Honor pledges may be paid over five consecutive years.

Circle of Honor donors are prominently acknowledged on the JVS Wall of Honor in seven categories:

  • Silver Circle (gifts of $25,000)
  • Gold Circle ($50,000)
  • Platinum Circle ($75,000)
  • Sapphire Circle ($100,000)
  • Ruby Circle ($250,000)
  • Emerald Circle ($500,000)
  • Diamond Circle ($1,000,000 or more).

Donors are also invited to attend our annual Scholarship Awards Reception, where they have the opportunity to meet the recipient(s) of their scholarship awards.

For more information about joining the Circle of Honor, please contact Cathy Kersh at 323-761-8888 x8868 or scholarship@jvsla.org..
