Here at JVSWorks, we will take any and every opportunity to highlight all the important work we do here at JVS LA. But let it never be said that we don’t send out props to other organizations – nonprofits in particular – who are also on the side of the angels. Heck, sometimes doing good work even lines you up for some prize money.
Some serious kudos are owed to The Huffington Post, The Skoll Foundation, CrowdRise, and McKinsey & Company for putting together the Jobraising Challenge. Basically, employment-focused nonprofits will have the opportunity to competitively raise $$. “Winners” will earn up to $250,000 in prize money and also boost awareness for their organizations and the work they do via a feature on the Huffington Post and blogging. Matching funds and mentorship will also be awarded.
So, in a sense, everybody wins.
With only a couple of days left before the Nov. 15 application deadline for eligible nonprofits, administrators from CareerGear, Samasource, and Goodwill of Southern California came to HuffPost Live to chat with HuffPost Live’s Josh Zepps and Daniel Koh about the role of nonprofits in creating employment opportunities.
