JVS Scholarship Fund Helps Diverse Group of Students with Higher Education
The JVS Scholarship Fund, which to date has awarded over $4.5 million to Jewish students in need, recently held a special reception at Sinai Temple to hand out scholarships and celebrate the enormous challenges the students have overcome in their personal and academic lives.
Scholarship Committee Chair Nan Goodman and Co-Chairs Ellen Morehead and Nancy Paul handed out $327,000 to 157 students for the 2010-2011 year.
The audience also heard from a current scholarship recipient, and a past alumni of the Chicago Jewish Scholarship Fund, who is now a neurosurgeon in LA and has repaid the advantages given to him by donating to the JVS Scholarship Fund.
