9-24-2012 -- JVS staff member Kathy Marshall will be seen on banners along Santa Monica Boulevard during the month of October as part of the City of West Hollywood’s recognition of Disability Awareness Month.
Every year, the City of West Hollywood’s Disability Advisory Board presents Disability Service Awards to individuals and organizations in the community who have made important contributions to the disabled community. JVS is a three-time award winner. In 2012, for the first time, the City of West Hollywood’s Department of Human Services will place banners along Santa Monica Boulevard and at City Hall to recognize past awardees.
“The Disability Advisory Board was interested in doing something different,” says Corey Roskin, Social Services Specialist for the City of West Hollywood. “They wanted to create more visibility for the work of the board, the event and the people who’ve been honored in the past.”
Marshall, JVS Assessment Program Supervisor, was honored in 1999. JVS’ Youth Ability Program was recognized in 2001 and former employee Dayanire Villachica was recognized in 2004. Marshall and the agency will be recognized on separate banners that will appear on the north side of Santa Monica Boulevard between La Cienega Boulevard and Laurel Avenue.
