JVS Selected to Participate in 2013 JobRaising Challenge

01-22-2013 – JVSLA will answer an innovative new year’s call to raise funds to put Los Angeles residents back to work in 2013

JVSLA is one only two L.A.-based nonprofits selected to participate in the 2013 JobRaising Challenge, a co-venture of CrowdRise, the Skoll Foundation and the Huffington Post.  For six weeks beginning Jan. 21 through March 3, JVSLA and other nonprofits across the country will be competing to raise money for their programs. The agencies that raise the most funds in that period of time will share $250,000 in prizes from the Skoll Foundation with a top prize of $150,000. During the campaign, entries from the JVSLA blog JVSWorks will be featured and promoted on the Huffington Post.

Participating agencies that meet fundraising benchmarks also receive prizes along the way, including include having blog posts featured up to 10 times on the front page of the Huffington Post over the course of a given year; an invitation to appear in-studio on the Post’s streaming network, HuffPost Live; and an invitation to a three-day bootcamp in New York City on social impact which includes a private reception with Huffington Post Founder Arianna Huffington. Agencies receive cumulative prizes beginning when an agency raises $1,000 and progressing all the way up to earnings of $150,000.

“We are excited to have this opportunity and will be calling on donors, friends and people who have never heard of JVSLA to step up and help us meet the challenge to help get people back to work,” said JVSLA CEO Vivian Seigel.
