Pete Forster is new JVS Veterans First Account Executive

When the San Francisco Giants knocked the St Louis Cardinals out of the playoffs en route to becoming champions of Major League Baseball, Pete Forster got his wish.

“As long as it’s not the Cardinals or the Yankees!” said Forster, the new Veterans First Account Executive for JVS.

An avid sportsman, Forster hails from Kansas City, Missouri and is therefore a die-hard fan of the Kansas City Royals and Kansas City Chiefs. Forster comes by his sports interests naturally. He spent five years as a pitcher in the Minnesota Twins organization.

When an injury ended his professional athletic career, Forster turned to construction work and sales in the residential and real estate market. He worked in insurance and as an account manager for CityGrid Media managing and selling advertising campaigns to business owners.

Through his wife, who works as a drug rehabilitation counselor at the Veterans Administration, Forster developed an interest in the plight of veterans. He saw the posting for a position with JVS Veterans First and found the post intriguing.

“It’s job development and recruiting which is something I’ve been wanting to get into for awhile,” said Forster. “Helping veterans transition into the civilian world is sales, but it’s selling with a mission. Getting veterans back to work and transitioning to a stable and productive life… I think that’s pretty important.”

At JVS, Forster will work with Veterans First Program Coordinator Jessica Cheng providing job development activities for clients by marketing their skills to employers and guiding clients through the job search, interview, and hiring process. He will also obtain job orders through outreach and sales to employers, advertise orders, match clients to job orders, coordinate interviews, and solicit feedback from employers regarding interviewee performance.

“Pete has a passion for helping veterans and is motivated in advocating for their employment,” said Cheng. “We’re fortunate to have him on the JVS team.”
