JVS' social service programs assist people to overcome immense obstacles to lead more self-reliant and empowered lives.
Our clients include dislocated workers, individuals with disabilities, at risk, foster and probation youth, immigrants and refugees, mature workers, people who are dependent on public assistance and individuals with economic, social, and psychological barriers to employment.
Dr. Randall M. Schaffer had asuccessful medical practice in New Orleans before selling itto launch a non-profit serving the poor with mobile healthcare.He lost everything in Hurricane Katrina, which sent him across the country withhis children. When he turned to the SOVA Food Pantry and Resource Center for help, he was referred to the JVS career counselor on site who worked with him until he landed a job that gavehim stability and the chance to dream again.
