Recovery & Low Income Programs
Community Connections at SOVA
This program provides on-site job search assistance, career counseling and referrals for low-income clients of SOVA Food Pantry & Resource Center. Services are available at all three SOVA locations, with the intent of helping to move clients from unemployment to employment or underemployment to self-sufficiency.
GAIN/GROW
JVS and for-profit provider MAXIMUS partner to help participants of Los Angeles County’s GAIN Program (Greater Avenues for Independence).
Often dependent on welfare, GAIN clients have economic, educational, social, cultural and linguistic barriers to finding and keeping a job.
Both agencies provide full-service case management, under the supervision of L.A. County.
The real measure of success for participants however, is freedom. Freedom from welfare. Freedom to help their families. Freedom to build not just a career, but their self-confidence and a productive future.
More than 9,000 people in the Greater Los Angeles area benefit from our services at offices in Chatsworth, Palmdale and Santa Clarita.
JVS also works with Los Angeles County’s GROW Program (General Relief Opportunities for Work) at offices in Lancaster and Rancho Park.
The real measure of success for participants however, is freedom. Freedom from welfare. Freedom to help their families. Freedom to build not just a career, but their self-confidence and a productive future.
Welfare to Work
Transitional Subsidized Employment Program (TSE)
The TSE Program was created to transition welfare recipients into temporary employment, with 80 percent of the client’s wages being subsidized by Los Angeles County with additional dollars from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). JVS provides clients with the opportunity to gain relevant work experience and move toward self-sufficiency.
