Mentor Roz Zukerman (L) and Mentee Bahareh Saghian (R) (Law)
Upon meeting each other, not only do Mentor Roz and Mentee Bahareh have a love of law in common, Bahareh used to work for a cruise line that Roz had booked several trips with! This match got off to a good start several weeks ago - they met at Junior's Deli and mapped out a game plan for Bahareh that included informational interviews, meetings with members of Roz's firm and opportunities for volunteer work/unpaid internships to add to Bahareh's resume.
Mentor Loren Stephens (L) and Mentee Ora Yashar (R) (Feature Film Writing)
Mentee Ora now has a seasoned author to help review her feature film scripts - enter Mentor Loren! At their first meeting, the two discussed opportunities for Ora to network with her alumni groups and set a schedule for Loren's review of Ora's current feature draft. Ora brought Loren a copy of her thesis film - Loren is planning on watching and giving valuable feedback. These two will also strategize ways for Ora to get the most out of her current position as script supervisor with Marvel Studios.
Mentor Kathrine Russell (L) and Mentee Julie Looper (R) (Nutrition)
Mentee Julie is just starting her career in the field of nutrition and is delighted to have an expert like Mentor Kathrine as a sounding board! Julie is currently taking classes at Santa Monica City College and will begin an intense certification course in the fall. Kathrine is planning on setting up some informational interviews for Julie with more "traditionally trained" dieticians and nutritionists to complement Julie's exploration of a more holistic approach. She will also help Julie formulate her "life plan" for the years she will be balancing school/possible work/family. Not an easy task, but I think they are both up to the challenge!
