JVS ANNOUNCES INNOVATIVE "WINNING NEW JOBS" PROGRAM

JVS’ weeklong program counsels Los Angeles residents on how to prepare for the right career.

Los Angeles, Calif., (April 3, 2001) JVS, www.jvsla.org, a non-profit, non-sectarian organization that helps people find work and redirect their careers, announced today a new program that will help Los Angeles residents train for new jobs. Winning New Jobs is a weeklong seminar that is designed for people who wish to re-invent themselves as they re-enter the workplace.

"This seminar has already received rave reviews from recent participants," commented Vivian Seigel, Chief Executive Officer/Executive Vice President, JVS. "Winning New Jobs uses role-playing, brainstorming, and other creative techniques to hone participants’ job search skills and strategies, and features inspirational sessions to bolster motivation and confidence."

Winning New Jobs is designed to give the unemployed the needed skills to find new jobs, and the program also deals with the mental health issues involved with unemployment. Groups of up to 20 participants take part in this program every month at JVS.

"Being unemployed is very emotionally stressful," commented Seigel. "This program seeks to deal with this issue as it prepares participants to achieve their goals in the workplace. Participants leave with a new outlook on finding a job."

Promoting a healthy mental attitude is a key goal of this program. "Winning new jobs is good for all kinds of people, executives, laborers, even young people," commented Brian Ebenkamp, Rehabilitation Counselor, JVS. "This program empowers people to refocus their identities and to realize what they are capable of accomplishing in the workplace."
