JVS HONORS MENTORS FOR HELPING WOMEN REACH NEW CAREER HEIGHTS
Speaker Patty De Dominic, CEO, PDQ Personnel Services spoke on the new world of work
Los Angeles, Calif., (June13, 2001) JVS, www.jvsla.org, a non-profit, non-sectarian organization that helps people find work and redirect their careers, honored dozens of women mentors and their ‘mentees’ who participated in the 2000-2001 class of JVS’ innovative WoMentoring program. Held at the Skirball Cultural Center, the luncheon featured keynote speaker Patty De Dominic, CEO of PDQ Personnel Services, who told the inspiring story of her own uphill struggle to rise to the executive ranks.
"The work world is chaotic, but you can’t let it overwhelm you," De Dominic advised. "Keep your core values intact and you’ll be sure to succeed." By ‘core values’ De Dominic means personal and professional commitment to delivering value. "Whoever hires you should get more than their money’s worth," she advised. "Not that you shouldn’t be well compensated - you should - but you must always challenge yourself to be more today than you were yesterday. That way, you’ll always be in demand."
"Through the WoMentoring program JVS provides one-to-one support, personalized coaching, and loving encouragement to women," commented Vivian Seigel, Chief Executive Officer/Executive Vice President, JVS. "
"WoMentoring is unique because both mentor and mentee truly benefit from the partnership," commented Seigel. "This Luncheon is a tribute to all who participated in making this year such a success." The program is funded by Rick and Debbie Powell and and Union Bank.
